It was a few years ago when I started this journey of blogging about what was going on at Walterdale Theatre Associates. Over the years, there have been many visitors to this blog - finding out about auditions and members and special events and shows. We grew to over 2000 visitors a month (many repeat visitors, I'm sure) from nearby and far away.
So, it is with pleasure for me to let you know that although this address will not be the active posting site for the Walterdale Blog, it will be continuing on the main Walterdale Webpage. Yes, that's right! I have been invited to continue writing about the theatre's activities and members, but now as an official part of the Walterdale Webpage.
I'll be leaving this site up so that people who want to re-visit material from the past can do so - and I might use this from time to time, for example during the run up to Fringe - but from now on you can read the blog posts online Walterdale's Official Webpage.
Thanks for reading over the years, and I hope you continue to do so in our new location!
This Blog is all about Walterdale Theatre Associates - it's members and the work we are doing on our stage. It is a Community Theatre whose foundation is the exceptional people who work there and a place where we are constantly pushing to create great theatre and memorable experiences for our audiences and member-volunteers. We just consider it to be home.

Village of Idiots - The Village is Populated!
A few weeks ago auditions were held for our final show of the season, Village of Idiots. I must apologize for not getting the cast list up on here sooner, but my commitment in The Threepenny Opera along with other things had interfered with the normal happenings of this Blog. In any case, I have the cast list to share with you now! It features many wonderful actors, both new and familiar to Walterdale audiences. The sense of fun shown at auditions will no doubt seep into this production with this cast!

Mesholem - Dallas Holmes
Yosef - Matt Randolph
Schmendrick - Eric Smith
Zisyah - Daniel Grimsen

Rebbetsin - Catherine Wenschlag
Miriam - Gabby Bernard
Feyvel - Joel Lefevre
Feigela - Elan Bertles
Ugly Male Chelmnik - Nick Eaton
Pretty Female Chelmnik - Lauren Kneteman

Congratulations to all! And thank you to everyone who auditioned. We had a great couple of evenings of auditions and enjoyed everything that you brought to the theatre. It was hard to choose from such fabulous folk!

Four down... 1 to go...
We now have confirmed the rights to 4 of the 5 shows. Ah. I anticipate no problems with the remaining one, but it is the first one of the season so I want those rights asap so that we can launch the season and set auditions.
I spent the morning in at the theatre today. I planned to get a lot more work done than I actually did, but it was good to chat with the Administrator and I did get a number of questions answered about my job and how I want to proceed. There are challenges to running an organization where everyone pretty much has another day job. There has to be a bit of flexibility with expectations while still maintaining the standards of the association. I hope to develop ways to help people do that.
The big job I started today was writing the "Thank you" letters for those individuals who submitted pieces to direct that were not selected. I had many good people (with good plays) submit, but there are only 5 slots in the season and I did want to direct myself. I am hoping that some of them can still participate with Walterdale in some capacity despite not getting to direct this season.
