In this 1920 tragicomedy, Judge D’Andrea must try a libel suit brought on by Rosario Chiàrchiaro, who has been shunned by the town for being cursed by the Evil Eye. D’Andrea is disgusted by the community’s superstitious nonsense and how it has ruined an innocent man, but it may turn out that the voices of many outweigh D’Andrea’s individual reason.
