So it is January 2011 and we are 1/3 of the way through the 52nd Season at Walterdale. Currently we have two shows in rehearsal.
Rabbit Hole is up on deck next, opening on February 9th. We are securely in the building and enjoying the luxury of getting the deck earlier than usual due to the phenomenal talents of Pierre Valois, Joan Hawkins and their crews. This fortunate occurrence will allow the actors to feel at home in the space even earlier than usual. Since this piece requires some major emotional journeys it is so nice to be able to have our feet grounded in the world of the play so early. The only obstacles we have encountered so far have been weather related as the freakish snow storms hitting our city have made it a challenge for all of us to get to the theatre. Luckily the team works hard when we get there so we make up for any lost minutes!
The other show in rehearsal is The Threepenny Opera. Music rehearsals have begun and some blocking. Due to the rehearsal schedule to Rabbit Hole, Threepenny has been abel to use the theatre on occasional evenings in January. We have had some wonderful time sharing space this season between shows which helps us to maximize the usage of the space!
Auditions for From Cradle to Stage will also be in February. See the previous post for details. The Dramaturges are working hard with the playwrights in order to get those scripts rehearsal ready by mid February!
